About This Place

Located in the charming harbor town of Eleele, Hawaii, Port Allen Sunset Grill & Bar masterfully blends the casual warmth of a local bar with the culinary delights of a top-notch grill and restaurant. This inviting spot shines with an extensive menu that celebrates the freshest seafood Kauai has to offer alongside hearty favorites that satisfy any craving.

From the very first bite, the flavors here tell a story of island freshness and thoughtful preparation. The Catch of the Day, often featuring fresh ahi tuna, arrives cooked to perfection, capturing the delicate yet bold taste of the Pacific. Equally irresistible are the Blackened Shrimp and Calamari Steak, served with a subtly sweet chili beurre blanc that enhances their natural flavors with a gentle kick. The Fish and Chips, made specifically with Wahoo, offer a crispy, golden crust surrounding succulent fish—a true testament to classic island comfort food. For those seeking a fusion of flavors, the Broiled Teriyaki Burger and Sunset Curry with Chicken provide savory, satisfying dishes with a Hawaiian twist.

Vegetarian diners will appreciate the thoughtfully prepared salad options such as the crisp Organic Garden Salad and the hearty Oriental Tofu Salad, both adorned with sweet sesame vinaigrette that brings vibrant life to every bite. The Sunset Seafood Salad, piled high with scallops, shrimp, and fresh fish atop organic mixed greens, offers a light yet indulgent experience reminiscent of the sea breeze itself.

Beverage choices are equally enticing, featuring tropical classics like the creamy, dreamy Piña Colada—a favorite among guests—as well as refreshing non-alcoholic options like crisp Iced Tea, tangy Lemonade, and various fruit juices. For those who appreciate a perfectly balanced drink, the Arnold Palmer pairs beautifully with the laid-back island ambiance.

The atmosphere at Port Allen Sunset Grill & Bar is relaxed and welcoming, with staff like Jessamy, singled out for their warm and attentive service, making every visitor feel part of the ohana (family). The setting might not boast panoramic sunset views directly from the tables, but the nearby waterfront and lively local vibe compensate richly. Guests can indulge in their meal or drinks, then head just across the street on weekends for live music, rounding out an authentic Hawaiian evening.

Port Allen Sunset Grill & Bar is a treasure for both locals and visitors seeking quality food without the premium island resort prices. Whether you come for the unbeatable seafood, the hearty steaks like the tender Pupu New York Steak, or the convivial bar scene with the coldest beer around, you’ll leave with a satisfied appetite and a genuine aloha spirit in your heart.

As many delighted patrons have shared, this is more than just a meal—it’s a memorable experience combining excellent food, friendly faces, and island charm. From Brian Parker’s praise for the piña colada and fish and chips, to Michaela Cathey’s glowing recommendation of the fresh ahi and blackened shrimp, every visit promises something special. No matter your taste, Port Allen Sunset Grill & Bar invites you to unwind, feast, and enjoy the authentic flavors of Kauai.

Wow wow thank you for the great food and drinks. We especially loved the piña colada and the fish and chips. Jess was so welcoming and we had the best time.

Fresh seafood daily, and really kind and attentive service. Wife and I went here for the sunset view. Unfortunately, the seating is not exactly oriented and the view isn't ideal for sunsets. We still had an amazing meal at a much more affordable price than the restaurants near the resorts. Plus there is live music across the street on the weekend. Highly recommend!

This was our best meal in Kauai! The Catch of the Day was fresh ahi tuna, which was cooked to perfection. The blackened shrimp was deliciously seasoned, and the fish tacos were huge and yummy! Jessamy was a wonderful server with a great sense of humor; she made us feel very welcome and cared for. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone visiting Kauai, even if just to have a drink and enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean from the patio.

Great spot for fresh fish & chips, poke nachos, or fish wraps! Excellent friendly service and a decent view of the Port Allen waterfront. We stayed around to watch an MLB playoffs game (Go Ms ) so we ran up more of a tab than most groups likely would.

Wow. Not many places get steak right, but so ono! Literally one of our fave spots across the islands. We had their specials and couldn’t have asked for anything better. Portions were huge and so delicious! Can’t recommend it enough

The wait staff are friendly. Gave us the catch of the day option. We ordered the catch of the day Ono which made for a really fresh fish and chips. We also ordered the garlic shrimp which was an appetizer but they gave me a side of rice to make it a shrimp plate. Both dishes were very good and fresh. Recommend coming here for a visit.

This is the best and most flavorful meal we have had while in Kauai. Our Server Iesha was spot on with her recommendations. Service with a smile and very attentive. The fish & chips here were so good. So was the catch of the day and blackened shrimp. Fresh fish that was flaky, shrimp cooked perfectly, plump and juicy. Mom had the grilled catch of the day (Ono) with garlic-lemon butter sauce. Son had the curry shrimp. He dug in with gusto and almost licked the bowl clean. My order of coffee came out fresh brewed and piping hot. A casual dining experience with a partial view of the ocean. Parking was free.
